Day 2 of Camp

Our 2nd day has gone great as well! Everyone is healthy, feeling great (maybe a little tired) and excited about the time we still have to spend with the people we have met. We continue to have fun with the students, building friendships with them and the Slovak helpers. The students have been very open and we are loving getting to know their individual personalities. It is wonderful to be able to build such strong relationships even though there is a great language barrier! The Yellow Class...

The Green Class...
The Red Class...
This afternoon, there was a demonstration of how Christ bridges the gap in our lives. The students all had to stand on one table (that represented a cliff). Petra taught how we are stuck on this one cliff without Jesus because we are sinners separated from God.
We can try anything we want by ourselves but there is no possible way to get to the other cliff (table) without help. The kids tried to jump to the other side but all of them came up short. In life we try to do good deeds, follow the law, etc. but nothing is ever good enough to bridge the gap between God and sinners.
She put the cross in between the two tables to show that Christ is the only way to get to God. He died on the cross to take away the sins of the world so that we can be reconciled to God. Only through Jesus are we able to get to God.
Each kid had to answer a question before they could walk across to the side that symbolized God. The question was "How can we have a relationship with God?" The answer the kids gave was "through Christ who forgives our sins".
This illustration helped the students to understand the Gospel in a visual way. What an awesome demonstration of how Christ has saved us!
